Le he estado dando vuelta a la promesa ¿o será acaso una amenaza? de uno de los contendientes de la recién culminada contienda política al norte del Río Bravo, prometiendo que haría una gran muralla para dividir la frontera entre su país y el nuestro, haciéndonos todo tipo de reclamos y culpándonos de todas las desgracias que sobre ese país causan los mal llamados "inmigrantes ilegales". Curioso, porque apenas ayer me hicieron llegar un mapa en el que se nos sugiere apoyar la idea y cargar con el costo del tal muro, siempre y cuando éste recorra la antigua frontera que separaba los territorios -con nombres en español- que nos fueron arrebatados en una época en la que los invasores ilegales eran otros. Si fuera así, yo coopero ¿y usted?

Saying the truth.
I have been thinking and re-thinking about a promise -or was it a menace?- by one of the political contenders in the recent race north of the Rio Grande, offering to build a huge wall between both our countries, making us the scapegoats for all the disgraces of our northern neighbor, signaling as culprits those called "illegal immigrants". It is such a curious thing to be said. Yesterday, I received an interesting proposal: "Let's give our support to such an iniciative, provided the wall to be build should run in our former frontier, the one previous to the plunder, giving us back all the territories with Spanish names that were ours before the invasion of those -then "illegal immigrants". If so, I will gladly give my support. Would'n you?
It is my word.
